This software tool can give NC programmers confidence to run any new part for the first time on a CNC machine. Many shops run their first parts unattended, without a prior prove-out. How? The software works with any CAD/CAM/PLM systems to simulate and optimize the exact same CNC code that will be run on the machine, so that it will be right the first time, every time. SPONSORED BY 3M: Five Common Reasons Manufacturers are Bonding with Industrial Tapes
Manufacturers are always looking for ways to keep ahead of the competition. And with advancements in bonding technologies, they’ve been able to explore new ways in doing just that. Industrial-grade, double-sided acrylic foam tapes such as 3M™ VHB™ Tapes are increasingly being used in place of more traditional mechanical fasteners such as screws, rivets, bolts, and welds—in order to permanently bond components together. While dynamic loading can cause screws and rivets to loosen or fail over time, 3M VHB Tapes are a proven, high-strength alternative to these mechanical fasteners. Based on 35+ years of experience in the development, advancement, and use of 3M VHB Tapes, here are the five main reasons manufacturing companies are choosing to “stick” with tape.
NO MORE laser drilling that covers the surface with spatter
NO MORE laser drilling that covers the surface with spatter
SmartPierce™ Software from PRIMA POWER LASERDYNE is a feature for creating a clean pierce point that is the same diameter as the cut width. This eliminates splatter of molten material around the pierce location making for a consistent and smoother appearing entry point. Using Laserdyne’s exclusive SmartPierce feature, the diameter of the pierce point is smaller than a conventional pierce point when controlled by the system software and ensuring that it is the same width as the cut. The SmartPierce capability is important in wide range of applications from thick to thin metal cutting.

Why Climate Change May Be a Threat to Manufacturing World Wide
Why Climate Change May Be a Threat to Manufacturing World Wide
Manufacturers are sensitive to extreme temperature, and results from a recent study published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Environmental Economics and Management showed just that. The study tracked temperatures and daily churn at half a million Chinese plants from 1998 to 2007. The results showed that one extra day of temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit costs the average Chinese manufacturing plant approximately $10,000 in 2017 dollars in lost output.
