The Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index, known as the PMI, hit 59.7% in December, the highest level in almost seven years. The group's New Orders Index was at an almost 14-year high. "We're really teed up here for a strong first quarter," said Timothy R. Fiore, chair of ISM's Manufacturing Business Survey Committee.
