Trump Expands Review of Obama-Era Mileage Regulations
"President Donald Trump’s administration is expanding its review of stringent fuel economy rules enacted by former President Barack Obama," writes Keith Laing of The Detroit News. The rules for model years 2022 through 2025 were originally set to be reviewed for feasibility by April 2018, according to The News. Now, the US Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation are accepting comments on rules for the 2021 model year, Laing wrote.

The U.S. offices of the Italian Trade Agency announced its "Call for Papers" for the 2017 Italian Technology Awards (ITA). The ITA is sponsored by the Italian Trade Agency, via its Chicago and Houston Offices, along with SME and its Italian machinery manufacturers' associations UCIMU, GIMAV and UCIMA.

The Italian Technology Award Program is comprised of three competitions asking upper-level students attending premier U.S. universities to submit papers on the relative innovation taking place in mechanical engineering-related industries and the issues they face. Award winners selected as having the best submissions, will be awarded a one-week trip to Italy with activities scheduled Nov. 5-11, 2017. Deadline for faculty and students to submit entries to SME is August 29th, 2017.
