Volkswagen Fined $2.8B in Diesel Emissions Scandal
Volkswagen has to pay a $2.8 billion fine for intentionally making "a diesel engine equipped with software to cheat on greenhouse gas emissions tests," according to the Detroit Free Press. The fine is part of a $4.3 billion plea deal that a US judge accepted. VW was also sentenced to three years probation.
